Rewind: Welcome to Yercaud!

Hello everybody.........this happens to b my first blog......its about a crazy experience i had some time back.. Please pardon my sub standard English.......coz its been ages since i've written anything. Blame HSC english if u have to.......;)

I have been on virtual house arrest for the past 2 years slogging for the IIT JEE exam and finally my efforts have produced decent results (thankfully for once atleast). I got thru wid a rank of 2153........not great but not too bad either. Anyway my story starts when my father decided tht i had studied enuf and it was time to take a break. We were to go to a hillstation in Tamil Nadu called Yercaud(for whoevers not been there.......its GREAT). We left on the day of my BITS exam (which i had screwed ). Salem is a town 1 hour from Yercaud. We cud hav taken a taxi from Salem or a "luxury" bus to Yercaud. But surprisingly no taxi was interested in coming and the ones who were, quoted exorbitant prices. There was a great crowd milling around for buses to Yercaud and the empty buses which came became full with passengers clambering on even before it reached the bus stand.........We were wondering why was there such a huge demand for buses to Yercaud and after inquiring with a few ppl we found out that there was a flower show going on at Yercaud. I was like.......a flower show and so much demand? It was crazy....old toothless grannies racing and climbing onto moving buses....ppl were actually entering thru the windows. lol!!! How can so many ppl b so desperate to see a flower show?? And the ticket vendor said tht in the past 2 hrs 40 bused had been sent but it was still not enuf for the influx of ppl waiting for the buses!!

When we finally boarded a bus with our luggage we didnt get places to sit........the bus soon became jam packed and stuffy. The damn driver had probably never driven anything other than a bullock cart before. We were moving at snails pace in the sweltering heat and that too STANDING!! The bus took an excruciating 2.5 hrs to reach Yercaud wid numerous breakdowns in between and we witnessed an accident which further delayed us. Kumbh mela mein bhi itna crowd nahi hoga..........I was thinking all these mad ppl cant b going for a FLOWER show....i mean they were risking their lives hanging form the buses and going.........We didnt even hav water to drink, we were breathing the engine fumes instead of fresh mountain air.........and the scene at Yercaud also was mind boggling. There were something like 10,000 ppl trying to get into a park about the size of apna Patwardhan park at bandra.........just for a bloody FLOWER SHOW???!!! LOL!!!

SO evrybody.......next time u guys plan a trip anywhere.......make sure there are NO FLOWER SHOWS going on!!! Till next time.....Vanakkam!!!
